As one of the most famous and recognisable casino games, it’s no surprise that Blackjack has been portrayed in a number of different TV shows. From cartoons and comedies to drama series, the classic card game gets plenty of exposure on the small screen.
The fact that Blackjack is a popular game that is easy to understand makes it perfect for TV shows, as viewers are able to relate to the scene with ease. Of course, not every TV portrayal of Blackjack is entirely realistic, so if you want your own taste of the great game then your best bet is to play it yourself and check out the Betfair Blackjack section.
Let’s take a look at a few of the most memorable Blackjack scenes in TV series.
Friends
One of the most beloved Friends episodes is ‘The One in Vegas’, where the gang head to Sin City to enjoy some casino fun. In one scene, Joey develops a bizarre obsession with a Blackjack dealer who he claims is his ‘hand twin’.
Keen to strike a friendship with the croupier and potentially earn fame and fortune with their identical hands, Joey heads to the Blackjack table to try and convince the dealer of the endless possibilities their identical hands could bring. He enlists the help of Phoebe, who joins the Blackjack game and introduces herself as ‘Regine Phalange’, before commenting on how incredible it is that Joey and the dealer have identical hands.
Sadly for Joey, he only serves to enrage the Blackjack dealer, and both he and Phoebe are thrown out of the casino by security.
Entourage
One famous scene in Entourage perfectly encapsulates the thrill of playing Blackjack. After Ari suffers some bad luck on the table, Vince takes his place and puts down a marker for $100,000 straight away. After two splits and a double down, the tension begins to rise. Another player decides to split on two kings, much to the annoyance of Ari, who at this point is a bag of nerves.
But it all works out for Vince, as the dealer goes bust and the men walk away with 300,000 big ones. Even the gentleman who split on two kings gets a kiss on his bald head from Ari, as without him the dealer would have scored 21 and Vince would have lost everything.
The Simpsons
One of the most famous episodes of The Simpsons is when the people of Springfield decide to legalise gambling, and Mr Burns subsequently builds a casino on the town’s waterfront. This allows Homer Simpson to fulfil his ‘lifelong dream’ of becoming a Blackjack dealer.
However, Homer proves to be just as incompetent as a casino croupier as he was at the nuclear power plant. In one famous scene, Homer repeatedly goes ‘bust’ at the Blackjack table to the delight of the gathered players. The Rich Texan character even offers Homer his lucky hat as a gift for bringing him such success at the Blackjack table. Naturally, the players scatter when Homer’s shift ends and a different dealer takes his place.

These are just a small selection of some classic Blackjack moments in TV shows, but there are plenty more to choose from. All in all, the casino plays a large part in so many TV series and movies, and many of these scenes will make you want to have a go at these famous old games yourself.
